There are times when photos do not always turn out the way we want them to. Sometimes there are people or objects in the background that distract from your main focus.
Fortunately, Photoshop is your best friend in this situation.
The Lasso tool and Content-aware tool are two of many Photoshop tools that can ease your problems because it effectively selects the undesired object/person and removes it from a photo by matching it with your background. For small adjustments (and sometimes medium ones), it can be effective because it hones in on your main focus and allows for no distractions. The viewer's eyes are not overwhelmed and they are able to understand the purpose of your photo easier.
This is an easy and simple 5-step tutorial for removing objects/people using the lasso tool and content-aware tool.
Learning how to remove unnecessary people/objects in the background can create more white space, help focus in on what you want shown, and construct a cleaner image that looks more professional. The Lasso tool is only one of many Photoshop tools that are useful in touching up an image, however, it may not always be suitable for what you are trying to do. Other tools, such as the Healing Brush tool, Magic Wand tool, or the Clone Stamp tool, might work better for your needs.
When working in Photoshop, it's easy to find a lot of errors that we've made. It makes us want to fix every part of our image, so only use them when something affects the purpose you are trying to convey. Excessive use can distort the image and if done recklessly, your image will feel unnatural.
If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments below. I challenge you to try the Lasso tool or Content-aware tool out, or start to pay attention to the details you want in your photo and the details you don't want in your photo too.
