As we diverge to our own paths, I'd like to leave a few realizations or advice behind as a senior graduating. I want to focus on three main points: Time, Beginnings, and Love.
Love
Going to a new place with new people can be intimidating and might make you want to step back into your comfort zone. However, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to recognize that it is scary, but to push through despite it. My orientation leader, Natalie, said: If the worst thing that could happen is you feeling a little uncomfortable or nervous for a short amount of time at a party or event or something, then be willing to take that risk. It's worth it. One thing I know is that fear means go. Go and do it anyways.
It can be nerve-racking putting your heart out there hoping someone will see you, but don't put your heart in the spotlight for others--do it for yourself. Put love into your work, into your body, into your mind, and into everything you touch because you love yourself. You won't have to wait for someone to see your heart because you'll already be glowing.
Do not be afraid of venturing into the unknown because in order to create your own self, you must be willing to step outside the lines. My mom has a lot of good advice, but the one that really stuck is: No matter what you do—do it with love.
I really do think that the best way to live is with love.
P.S I didn't think I had a lot to say...but I guess so, therefore I'm splitting the letter into three separate posts! Click here for Time or Beginnings
