On Friday, my friend Kennedy hosted a party for Anya, a foreign exchange student, so that way she could feel comfortable before school starts. Anya had such a lovely accent and it was wonderful getting to know her, she told us that she was from Switzerland (and she even said something extremely shocking--she's never tried peanut butter. Apparently, they don't have a lot of it over there).
In a much larger circumstance, I feel like we should treat all people the same--open our arms to people who are different than us. When we allow ourselves to understand different cultures, we broaden our perspectives of the world and how we live. If you stand in ignorance of others, you not only hurt other people, but you end up hurting yourself because you limit your mind from learning and growing. Hating someone will never get you as far as loving them would--hate shows the type of person you are, not them.
