A couple days ago, I spent the afternoon with my friend, Diana! She's an absolute sweetheart and got me Rupi Kaur's book, milk and honey. If you don't know who she is, Kaur is a poet that uses her writing to represent different types of people (her second book, the sun and her flowers, comes out October third...so you know I'll be in for a visit at the bookstore that day). I'm not quite finished with her book, but I've sobbed about two times already--her words are very moving. Since we are speaking of books, hit up my Goodreads account to see what books I've stuck my nose in lately. If you can't tell, I'm a book lover, yet, (unfortunately) I've been dragging myself to read something. I guess I'm in a book funk, but hopefully that will clear up soon! So, if you have any recommendations, feel free to tell me!
Anyways, Diana and I talked and sipped coffee throughout the day before heading home and eating burgers, playing jenga, and watching Moana (I've watched that movie so many times, the animation is simply breathtaking!). And the first picture you see above is a picture she took of me with her polaroid camera. I've always wanted one but I heard that the film is super expensive...so I don't see that happening for quite a while.
It's always wonderful to hang out in a quiet bookstore and sip coffee with a close friend, everyone needs someone who can do that with them (if you like to read of course lol). In general though, doing something peaceful with someone you know deeply is a breath from life! Take a break. Have coffee. Read books. Like the tortoise and the hare--you don't have to go fast to live, you just have to keep going (That's my outlook for my senior year, slow down and enjoy the ride. You only get one senior year, you know?).
"you said. if it is meant to be. fate will bring us back together. for a second i wonder if you are really that naive. if you really believe fate works like that. as if it lives in the sky staring down at us. as if it has five fingers and spends its time placing us like pieces of chess. as if it is not the choices we make. who taught you that. tell me. who convinced you. you've been given a heart and a mind that isn't yours to use. that your actions do not define what will become of you. i want to scream and shout it's us you fool. we're the only ones that can bring us back together. but instead i sit quietly. smiling softly through quivering lips thinking. isn't it such a tragic thing. when you can see it so clearly but the other person doesn't." - Rupi Kaur
